MB007 Roster Update

Due to Covid, we unfortunately lost a bunch of guys from the trip this year (myself included.) Here is the final roster breakdown. A couple guys had to be moved to make the teams equal in numbers. 20 guys total, a 10 v 10 matchup.

The Doggs will be captained by Aidan Beckford and the Legend. The "world" team- whatever their name is, will be captained by Mike Coates- who now needs to name a new co captain with Ryan Bebrin now playing for the good guys.

Finalized tee times will be posted in the near future.

Looking back at Gronk vs AJ Green in 2017

It's time to memorialize the truth in the matters that occurred on September 6th 2017, the morning after our fantasy football draft and just days before the start of week 1.

The accused crime: Taking advantage of my marital relationship with my wife, and forcing her to make a trade against her will.

Kait, who at the time had never won our fantasy league, drafted this squad on the night of the 5th:

They key takeaway here is she walked away from the draft with 7 Wide Receivers (And 2 kickers?) We play in a league with 2 WR spots and 1 flex. After the draft I asked her why she drafted so many and I believe she said she didn't actually mean to, but WRs were consistently at the top of the ranks when it came her turn to draft.

So what did I do? As a loving husband and competitive fantasy player- I offered a mutually beneficial trade.

It was Rob Gronkowski for AJ green and Jack Doyle. It was accepted by Kait (At work, I believe) the next morning.

The league revolted. Well, maybe not the league, but one very vocal very angry owner called for collusion and said there's no way Kait should make this trade, after all, Gronk was available at the spot she took AJ Green!

Well, it turns out this was actually a league winning trade for Kait, literally. As in she won the league. But... was it despite this trade? or because of this trade? Lets see...

Gronk was the #2 TE (#1 TE in fantasy points per game) in 2017. AJ Green, no slouch himself, finished at the #10 WR.  Considering WR  are far easier to replace than TEs, this alone would be a win for Kait.

Here's the kicker- how did these guys play in the most important fantasy weeks of the season?

AJ Green:

Gronk:

Gronk lit the world on fire. 25 points in the semis and 31 in the finals? GG. And AJ green sucked. Kait won the league.

Case: Closed

Note: She still hasn't thanked me for this and it's been 3 years.

Official MB007 Team Roster Announcement

This Fall we will be embarking on our 7th Myrtle Beach golf trip. After last year's rubber match and Fairway to Heaven's death, we will be changing up the teams and expanding the group size to 28, a 14v14 matchup. I am so happy that the location of MB007 is at Legends, our "home base" in MB. This will be the 4th time we are returning to Legends for their incredible stay and play package.

The first team is....

After many negotiations and considerations, we decided to roll with the Doggs for one of the teams at MB007. We will have to adopted a few stray doggs for the weekend. Our full roster includes:

Get to know the new guys:

New Doggs:

Evan Lum- "Lummah" is my linemate on the Doggs. Evan is a great dude. He has a 1 year old son and lives in Canton, MA. Originally from Abington. Only time we've seen Evan swing a club was the the Dead Dogg Open, he's a wildcard. Obv out kicked his coverage with the old lady, as pictured.

Spanky- Spanky is a Norwood legend. A (good) dad to two pre-teen sons. Spanky's golf experience is limited- he did play in the Dead Dogg Open last year but currently doesn't own a set of golf clubs. And he's a lefty!

And the new non Dogg players:

This is the pic of himself  requested to be used by Cote
Chris Cote-  This kid is a stallion. If you mix Phil and John Daly you get Chris Cote. He hits BOMBS. And will go beer for beer with anyone except the Legend. "How long are the tees you generally play? I have been really bombing my driver lately, so I want to make sure I won't be flying the landing zones on every hole."

John "Crooky" Cruikshank-  Crooky played with us in the practice round at Oyster Bay last year. Another bomber. Pretty cure Crooky is terrible at golf but hits the ball so far he can still hang out in the high 90s on a solid day. His claim to fame is that he will outdrive anyone Happy Gilmore style (#supadam.) Probably wrong about that but another good dad, nonetheless.

Matt Fliesser-  Let's hear it for New Yorrrkkkkkkk.... Fliesser is the second wild card to emerge from the NY area. Last year it was Ed. This year it is Fliesser. Not that it would be hard to do (sorry Ed) but I think Fliesser may show better in his first appearance than his boy. I've never played with Fliess but heard he's a stick. Unfortunately for him hes a Mets fan. Says he doesn't like any other team in any other sport. Tough life for Fliess.

Ken Left Nick Right

Ken Nee- An electric addition to the trip, for sure. Ken has a weird looking face but he's funny and likes to troll people. A very successful lawyer/husband/home owner in Charlestown...aka The Town.  So don't fuck with him or make fun of him.   Also rumored to be a very solid golfer w/ a big stick. I know he's had success pairing with Nick Y in the past, good chance we see these two play together in October if they can stop making out with each other long enough to get to the tee box.

Nick Yeomolakis- Nick, another very solid golfer for this team. Another guy I haven't played with  but if he's anywhere near as good at golf as he is at hockey he will do well in MB. Pretty sure Ken and Nick are butt buddies and will likely play together so that will be a fun team to watch (try to) dominate the course and the cooler. Nick has won the Coates family golf tourney twice. He also said "dont let me get a lead" so whoever plays Nick can be sure to remind him when/if he has a lead he better not blow it!

Bill said he liked to drink Buds and Beam. So I used this pic of him because we aren't facebook friends.

Bill Nichols- Total Wildcard. Who is this guy? I know he loves golf and loves our annual golf trip so I'm excited to get "good bill" down to MB. He did say "If I hit it pure no one can hit it further than me"... which I will respectfully take the under on LOL. We have some bombers on this trip. Also, good Bill says he can and has easily drank 18 beers in 18 holes. #doit

Mike "Ogga" Ogasapian- Ogga once supplied Dan (Doggs goalie) with equipment to start his hockey career. That's the type of guy Ogga is. I know he plays a lot of golf, though we haven't teed it up together. Knows how to party. Fun fact... Ogga is friends with "Tiger out of the Cage" Jay. Aka Sam's Jay. Aka they are divorced now FYI.

That's all for now, folks. 249 days and counting...

Updated All Time Dirty D Standings

Updated All Time Dirty D Standings 2009-2019

The 2019 season, our 11th, is in the books. Dedham's adopted son (me) has finally won back the D.  I was able to close out strong with a dominating win over Abe, who had his best season in this league by far. The Boston Patriots- drafted by the late Mr B- made a magical run to the #1 seed, but unfortunately fell just short and came in 3rd place. Mr B. finishes 2nd and 3rd in his last 2 seasons of the league. He ends his fantasy career on a four year playoff appearance run. Very sad to see an original owner leave, Mr B. will be missed by all. Next year we will be changing to fractional scoring, which is all the guy ever wanted in our league. He would be proud. We will have at least 1 new owner in 2020.
