Trade Review: Colston/Moreno for D Jax/Mathews

A Pinch Better Gets: DeSean Jackson, Ryan Mathews
The Godfather Gets: Marques Colston, Knowshon Moreno

Pretty equal trade here. Lets look at the WRs first.

I think I like Jackson slightly better for the rest of the season, but this is certainly close enough where these guys are pretty interchangeable. Colston has gotten off to a slow start while Jackson has flown out of the gates... but I'm confident that from weeks 4 on these guys will be pretty close to each other. They are both equally injury prone so that's a non factor.

As for the RBs,  I would rather own Knowshon Moreno than Ryan Mathews. Mathews is unexciting, crazy injury prone, and its concerning to me that his offense has been very good thus far but his personal production has been bland. Plus I've been burned by him in the past so I am probably more down pon Mathews than the average fake football player. Moreno is the lead back in Denver for now, and while I believe he loses his job down the line, hes a solid option through the bye weeks and will command more on the market should Abe decide to trade him.

Overall, I would rather be getting the Colston/Moreno side, but pretty even deal here.

Trade Review: Fitz/Pierce for D Jax/J Bell

I'm going to make this a thing this year. Take actual trades in my fantasy league and analyze. This just happened:

Team Ice Cream Gets: Larry Fitzgerald, Joique Bell
The Godfather Gets: Desean Jackson, Bernard Pierce

I'm not going to write a tonon this, mostly because I am leaving the office in 5 minutes.

To me, this is Trade Rape City, USA. I think Fitz outproduces D Jax the rest of the way.

I think Joique has stand-alone PPR value (flex guy) in games that Reggie Bush is not playing or limited. In those few instances where Bush DOESN'T  play, Bell is a RB1.

Bernard Pierce does NOT have stand alone value and will only be useful if Ray Rice gets/stays injured. The reports are saying Rice will be back this week.

...so basically I like Fitz decisively more than D Jax and I like Joique Bell a lot more than Bernard Pierce. Adam wins the trade by a landslide here, buying low on Fitz and selling high on D Jax.

Week 4 Dirty D Power Ranks

1. Eat More Chicken (Last Week: 3rd)

Pending any late stat corrections, Jenna squeaked by last week with a 1 point victory over Adam. Tony Romo and Matt Forte saved the day with 20 point performances, but everyone else on the team was just mediocre. Andre Johnson continues to get banged up and Lamar Miller is frustrating. Seattle defense is strong always, and I expect this to be one of the worst weeks of Jenna's season. Depsite her lowest week of the young year, Jenna gets bumped up to the top of my ranks for the first time.

2. Tahiti Loungers (Last Week: 5th)

Since my last rankings I traded away Frank Gore, Miles Austin, the Browns Rbs and in return got Brandon Marshall and Brian Hartline. Marshall had a slow week- just 10 points- but Hartline rewarded me with a matchup winning TD late on Sunday. My RB crew is suspicious for sure, but I'm still a believer in CJ Spiller and between my 5 other rbs I should be able to find one with a solid matchup. Brees and Graham are unstoppable... In fact Graham has more points in our league than any other player outside of Peyton Manning. Brees/Marshall/Jordy/Spiller/Graham is an amazing core of players and I expect to stay at the top of the standings and these rankings for the rest of the year.

3. Team Ice Cream (Last Week: 1st)

Adam knows how to pick kickers, that's for sure. Prater almost won him the matchup with 17 points but it wasn't enough. When looking into the reason why Adam lost, and scored a season low 113 points, there's no need to go down past the QB slot. Eli Manning had a horrific game that produced 3 fantasy points. Charles was the only player would had a really nice game for Adam, everyone else was pedestrian. The black unicorn was held to just 3 points, but like any other low end TE1, Bennett will disappear from time to time. I expect a trade coming soon to improve this roster... QB has got to be the biggest need to fill right now.

4. Boston Patriots (Last Week: 7th)

These Patriots led the league in points this week, thanks to MONSTER performances from Antonio Brown (46 points) and Lesean Mccoy. Shady had another 27 points and is the best RB in our league this year by 10 points. (Charles is 2nd.) He's for real, and until he gets injured he's going to be a weekly threat for top fantasy RB. Matt Stafford continues to put up the yardage and stats that make him a great fantasy QB, and Orange Julius Thomas found the end zone AGAIN in week 3. That was a great pick up my Mr. B after the first game.

5. A Pinch Better (Last Week: 2nd)

Slow week for Sean results in another loss and surprising 1-2 record. Luckily for him, Comeback Story is on the schedule this week, which is important because Aaron Rodgers and Jermicahel Finley are on bye. Actually Finley was concussed in week 3 and left the game so who knows what his status is. DeMarco Murray had a game this week... his 34 points vaulted him to the 3rd spot amongst RBs thus far. I'm starting to get concerned if I'm a Foster owner about a possible 60/40 RBBC split all season. Ben Tate isn't going anywhere, and while Foster is still out-touching Tate, these guys are destroying each others value. Gary Kubiak hates fantasy football and loves both his backs so if they stay healthy, you're going to get more single digit fantasy performances from Foster. Roddy White is probably not playable until at least Week 7 after the Falcons bye, and while both Fred Jackson and Knowshon Moreno have looked good thus far, the reality is they are both in timeshares with limited upside. Without Pryor, McFadden is likely to see some regression as well. Warning flags everywhere.

6. the rental guys (Last Week: 4th)

I ned to be on record for saying I HATE that Dan traded away MJD for Deangelo Williams straight up. Makes no sense to me. MJD has had a slow start, the Jags sucks, but cmon. Talk about selling low. DeAngelo Williams is an incredibly unexciting fantasy RB. He doesn't get goal line touches. He's not particularly good at catching the ball out of the backfield. J Stew is expected back in a few weeks. Of course, for this past week, the trade actually DID workout for Dan. D Willy took advantage of a game in which the Giants defense gave up and he produced a whopping 15 fantasy points. I'll be surprised if D Willy averages more than 10 per game from here on out and certainly shocked if he outscores MJD.
Anyway, Dan lost this week to yours truly and the main reason was Colin Kaepernick's disgusting 4 point game. Jordan Cameron did his best Jimmy Graham impression but it wasn't enough. Another surprising 1-2 team, Dan needs to put together a nice week if he wants to beat Kait, Peyton & co.

7. Dr. Victorious Secret (Last Week: 9th)

Kait was the beneficiary of having Comeback Story on the schedule in week 3. Despite a subpar effort, Kait still managed to destroy her bro. I'm convinced Peyton Manning is going to break the TD mark Brady set in 2007, and he is already the highest scoring player in our league. As long as Manning/Welker are playing, Kait's team is going to be solid. Week 9 is their bye and that's the week Kait plays against Jenna, so, congrats Jenna. Trent Richardson socred a TD for his new team but is going to split time for another week or 2 with Bradshaw until he has everything down. Hakeem Nicks curiously had a goose egg in this game, Kait's lucky it didn't cost her and he complained about it after the game so maybe next week he'll get more targets.

8. The Crossing Guards (Last Week: 8th)

AutoBill got his ass handed to him this past week and lost by 50. It was a weird week- Marshawn Lynch only had 6 points, V Jax got hurt, Vernon Davis dint play, and the Kicker/DST combined for 4 total points. AutoBill left a ton of points on his bench by playing Vick over Newton, but that barely mattered. I'll be shocked if by this time next week this roster remains unchanged... Powell has been a nice/necessary surprise for this team but Ingram was cut due to lack of production. The best thing this team did all week was add Ryan Broyles and Brandon Bolden from the waiver wire. Serious question though... How the F did this happen? I know I had a waiver claim in on both players. Bill is below me in the standings (duh) so I get that he gets first waiver priority, but how the hell did he get both Bolden AND Broyles? Something seems wrong here. Either way, they were good and much needed pick ups. Bolden might be a nice flex play until Vereen comes back.

9. The Godfather (Last Week: 11th)

A really nice week for Abe lifts him up a spot. It was a huge boost that for at least 1 week, Joique Bell acted like the RB1 Abe should have. We kind of got a glimpse of what Abe's team could possibly be if Lacy and Bernard turn out to live up to the spots where he drafted them. There are some minor bye week issues to deal with this week, and its going to be really tough for Abe to pull out a victory vs the #1 team in these rankings. I know Abe is working the trade phones pretty hard, so we'll see if he can come up with something that forces me to move him up in the ranks next week.

10. Angry Pirates (Last Week: 10th)

Campbell's team got a nice upgrade this week with the huge performance from Josh Gordon and the acquisition of MJD. I'm a big believer in Gordon... I think at worst he produces top 25 WR numbers the rest of the way out. At best I can see him finishing top 10. David Wilson is still fighting to make his mark this season.. he currently has 1 single fantasy point through 3 games. That's crazy town, and if Campbell can be patient with him, it may pay off down the road. Bowe is very concerning, clearly Alex Smith cant get him the ball down-field enough for him to be a major player. If only Russell Wilson was a  better fantasy QB I would really like this team.

11. A1 Providers (Last Week: 6th)

Trades away Brandon Marshall and Brian Hartline and return gets Gore, Austin, and the CLE Rbs. A nice move by Paul, but not so great this week. Miles Austin had a hamstring issue flare up in his game, which is of course very concerning for him. I'm sure Paul doesn't make that trade again this week if he had the chance.  Hopefully for Paul one of these CLE RBs emerge as a use-able guy- my guess is McGahee- and hopefully Gore gets the rock more. He was looking EXCELLENT on the 49ers first drive of the game but somehow ended up not really getting the ball much after that and only put up 12 points. Ray Rice is maybe coming back this week, Paul needs him to get back to elite RB1 levels to help keep the team afloat. Paul doesn't have great matchups this week and he's playing against my team so things are trending down here.

12. Comeback Story (Last Week: 12th)

48 points this past week actually set the record for lowest week ever in our Leagues history. This is pretty remarkable if you take into account how much higher scoring the league is now than in 2009 AND the fact that their were no bye weeks to interfere with. How did this happen? Lets break this record breaking performance down by player:

Brady- 15 points, the teams leading scorer had a mediocre game
Morris- 13 points, solid effort but nothing special
T Gonz- 6 points, Whats wrong with T Gonz this year? Has age caught up? He should be getting a lot of looks with Roddy hobbling
Royal- 5 points, TD pace/streak obv unsustainable, picked the wrong week to play him
Kicker- 4 points, hate kickers
TY Hilton- 3 points, Don sits him in week 2 when he scores 20, but plays him in week 3 when he scores 3. Ouch.
Andre Roberts- 1 point,  time to give up on this guy or at least keep him benched
St Louis Def/ST- 1 point, this was a stupid play and not a surprise
D Richardson- 1 point, aggravated injury on first play of the game

Notable Bench-

S Jax- Benched with a soft tissue injury that will keep him out a few more weeks
Amendola- Injured. Shocker.

I'm not sure what Donny's plan is, but this is one of the worst rosters Ive seen in our league. There a chance Donny goes on a "2012 Angry Pirates-like" streak here. For at least the next 2 weeks Donny will be a heavy underdog.

Week 3 Dirty D Power Ranks

Power ranks are back! Here is the initial 2013 version for The Dirty D:

1. Team Ice Cream

Adam’s team occupies the top spot in the initial 2013 Power Ranks for a couple reasons. Adam has scored the most points thus far and is one of only 3 remaining undefeated teams. The WR and RB depth here is exceptional… Charles, Bush, Sproles, Decker, Desean Jackson, Garcon , Stevie Johnson gives Adam the ability to play the matchups nicely. With Le’veon Bell and Bernard Pierce cooking on the bench, the future is bright for Adam. When/If Adam trades for a top tier QB or TE, watch out.  Desean Jackson is the highest scoring WR in the league and unfortunately for everyone else, it doesn't seem like a fluke.

2. A Pinch Better

I love this team. Even though Roddy White has brought basically nothing to the table so far, Sean is still dominating the WR position. A lot of that has to do with the WR situation in New England and the fact that Sean drafted Edelman to his bench. As of now, in week 3, the RB crew here is studly as well. Foster/Tate/Murray/McFadden/Moreno provides many options for Sean.  It’s important for him to have the depth, mostly because Murray and DMC are virtually guaranteed to miss time at some point. The Rodgers-Finley connection is lethal…  Finley has a TD catch in both games so far and Rodgers has been Rodgers- through 2 games he has 813 yards and 7 TDs with just 1 interception. I am extremely happy to have won my week 1 matchup vs this team... this may be the year Sean finally breaks through and gets his name on the D

3. Eat More Chicken

Jenna has had a huge season thus far. I’m kind of throwing out the MONSTER week 1 performance based on the fact that Anquan Boldin (51) accounted for almost a  third of her teams points (167) and that will never, ever happen again. Regardless, even with a normal game from Boldin, she would still have put up north of 130 in week 1 and followed that up with 144 in week 2. Most of the points generated for Jenna are from her Cowboys (Dez and Witten) and Forte looks like he back to being a reliable RB1 each week so Jenna is looking good there. Andre Johnson has been a beast but may have a concussion so that’s something to watch out for. A Week 3 battle is looming with top dog and fellow undefeated league mate Adam.

4. the rental guys

Dan’s team is clearly led by his WRs, more specifically Julio Jones. The guy’s a monster and weekly threat to put up 30 points. James Jones oddly put up a goose egg in week 1, but roared back in week 2 with an 11 catch, 178 yard beast performance. Unfortunately for Dan he was left on the bench, although Dan was able to recoup most of those lost points with rookie Tavon Austin’s coming out party. If this guy turns into a fantasy stud, its WR city on Dan’s team. The weakness with the rental guys in 2013 is definitely at RB… this may not have been the case if Vereen wasn’t lost for the next 9 weeks, but injuries happen and depth matters. MJD is now hurt and looking gross anyway so the 2nd RB slot is very weak for Dan right now. Kaepernick is going to be a stud all season- I’m almost sure he is going to finish in the top 5 QBs when the season is over. The other thing to note here is the emergence of Jordan Cameron. I was very high on this guy in the off season and he hasn’t disappointed. Now that Josh Gordon is back it will be interesting to see how the targets are distributed… I’m not too worried about Cameron losing looks.

5. Tahiti Loungers

I’ve been lucky this year with scheduling. Despite only having the 8th most points in the league, I’ve found a way to start 2-0. It seems like out of the 2 weeks thus far, most of my players have had one awesome week and one dog shit week. Kenbrell Thompkins has been extremely disappointing… after dominating the pre-season he has failed to capitalize on his chance as Brady’s outside receiver. I’m not worried about CJ Spiller at all, and I expect Week 2 to be Gore’s worst fantasy performance of the season (@ Seattle DEF.)  The 2 bright spots on my team have been Jordy Nelson and Jimmy Graham. Both are studs, both have scored each week, and both should continue to have monster 2013 seasons. Better days are surely ahead for Drew Brees who is currently ranked 14th in QB scoring this year. He’s never finished outside the top 3 in our league’s history.

6. A1 Providers

Paul, like every other year, has a more than solid starting lineup. After 2 weeks this team has the 3rd most points scored- largely due to the 109 combined points from Brandon Marshall and Victor Cruz. These guys are studs who will likely keep churning out the points all year. Ray Rice’s injury is a concern- especially because the only other RBs on this roster are Ahmad Bradshaw and Shonn Greene. Paul is going to get murdered in the bye weeks and if/when his RBs go down- Rice kind of already has and Bradshaw has a history- so we’ll see what kind of shrewd moves/pick-ups Paul can make to keep his team from tanking like last season. (last season Paul started 4-1 and ended up missing the playoffs with a 6-5-2 record.) The bench here is predictably gross… I have no idea why Sudfeld and Miller are still on this roster.

7. Boston Patriots

I’m pretty sure Mr. B has the worst luck in the league. He was the victim to Peyton Manning in Week 1 and lost even though he posted 138 points. Lesean Mccoy is looking like an EXCELLENT pick at #5 overall. He’s been incredible thus far and only an injury is going to slow him down. Julius Thomas was a nice pick up for these Patriots… he should continue to get red-zone love from Peyton. Randall Cobb and Reggie Wayne are rock solid WRs and this team is going to stay competitive all season.

8. The Crossing Guards

The computer picked a damn good starting lineup for Bill. Cam Newton has been held in check though 2 weeks… but the dude has never finished outside the top 5 QBs in fantasy scoring. Brighter days are ahead. The WRs are going to have to carry The Guards this year, after Skittles Lynch there is literally no other RB on this roster that should be starting. You can’t win consistently with a rotation of Powell/Ingram/Helu/Blount. It hurt just typing those names. I expect a trade or 2 coming soon from the Guards, but until then I have to keep this team lower in my ranks. The 263 points scored so far is actually the 6th best in the league… but this team is going to struggle through the bye weeks with it’s lack of depth if the roster stays as is.

9. Dr. Victorious Secret

Frustration. That’s the word to describe Kait’s season so far. Her first 2 picks (12th and 13th overall) have combined for 27 fantasy points through 2 weeks. That is pathetic. What the hell is going on with Ridley and T Rich?  How is this possible? Obviously better days are ahead for both backs, but I’m starting to get somewhat concerned with T Rich. Usually, the only knock against him is his health but hes completely healthy right now and I'm starting to fear the new offensive system in place is detrimental to Richardson’s fantasy value. There’s no doubt he will be better than he has been… but when you have a healthy T Rich you expect points galore. Kait would be 0-2 if it was for the historical performance from Peyton in week  1, but the bright spot for Kait is that Gronkowski is returning soon. Once he is back, and T Rich/Ridley get right, I expect a major climb in these Power Ranks.

10. Angry Pirates

The Wilson’s are killing this team. Through 2 weeks David has… wait for it… negative 2 points total. That’s right, -2. Fumbling and blocking issues are keeping this kid off the field and in Tom Coughlins doghouse, where he has been before. Wilson has talent for sure… but until he starts producing he is merely a high upside flex play. Russell has had a couple mediocre games, to be fair he’s played 2 good defensive units, but Campbell didn’t draft this QB to average 13 points a game. The good news is this team still has AP who is going to continue to be the most reliable back in the game, and Demaryius Thomas is going to blow up a lot this year. Dwayne Bowe and Mike Wallace are essentially the same player… both have the size and talent to dominate, but have somewhat shaky QB play (for fantasy) and both disappear way too often for my liking

11. The Godfather

Abe invested a lot (2nd round pick) in Eddie Lacy and he unfortunately went down with an injury on his first carry of the game this past week. I expect him to be out for a few contests, so it was wise that Abe put in and won his waiver claim for back up James Starks. Gio Bernard looked great on Monday Night Football, if he emerges as the lead back in Cincy he could provide some real value moving forward. This team isn’t awful by any means- when you are led by Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitz you CANT be- but its hard to get too excited about this lineup. Joique Bell was a great pick by Abe… he holds value on his own and Kilmers black workhorse- Reggie Bush- is almost guaranteed to get injured and miss time soon. RG3 looks to be a normal human in 2013, theres basically no chance he lives up to his draft spot and produces anything close to 2012 numbers. His teammates say he is slower, they aren’t running the read-option cuz the skins keep getting blown out, and the rushing yards aren’t there.

12. Comeback Story

0-2 record + lowest points in the league + multiple injuries = last place in my power ranks. I almost, ALMOST feel bad for Don right now. Danny Amendola dominated week 1 but very predictably got hurt and will be out for at least 2 more weeks and maybe as many as 6 more. On top of that, Steven Jackson is now lost for at least week 3 after exiting early in week 2. Combine these injuries with Tom Brady’s struggles and you have a major problem on your hand. Both Alfred Morris and Tony Gonzalez are underperforming, but there’s no major concern with either IMO. Donny has the weekly challenge of picking the right WR to start… his rotation of TY Hilton, Marlon Brown, Andre Roberts, Emmanual Sanders and now Eddie Royal is not something any fantasy player wants to deal with so early in the season. There are sure to be better days ahead, but unless something major happens, I’m not optimistic about this team at all.

The Seahawks Shave Sean's Beard

In case you missed it, Sean (A Pinch Better) had a few bets on the board surrounding last night's NFC West division battle. Here is the dialogue from our group chat surrounding this bet. The best one liners are colored and bold. Scroll past the dialogue for the results of the bet and pictures of the loser.

Bill: "I'll take SF at SEA"

Jeremy "Seattle is the best team in the NFC"

Sean "No they are not"

Jeremy "Yes they are"

Sean "No"

Jeremy "That's your opinion"

Sean "I dk why people are so high on them"

Jeremy "Because they are very, very good?"

Sean "Ok, the best?"

Jeremy "Yea they are"

Sean "SF is better"

Jeremy "I disagree. Seattle's def is better. Offense is a push"

Sean "Disagree"

Dan "I picked Seattle to win"

Sean "I don't know how you can say offense is a push"

Bill: "I'll take SF on offense"

Sean "Defense is a push"

Sean "I think San Fran will smoke the Seahawks"

Dan "^False"

Sean "+10"

Dan "I'll take $10 on that"

Sean "I'll take it Dan, +9.5. $10"

Dan " Fine"

James "I want in on that Sean"

Sean "Nah I'll get you with a diff bet"

James "Damn, I wanted the free money bet"

Sean "It ain't free money"

Jeremy "Did someone get the Seahawks +10 at home? Skimmed through all this"

Sean "I'm giving them 9.5"

Jeremy "Fool"

Sean "Nope"

Paul "Yuh dude"

Sean "Don't trust them"

Jeremy " I would put the farm on Seattle +9.5"

James "Yea Jeremy he backed down from more action, I wanted free money but Dan got it"

Sean "Can't wait til they get rocked and you all look like 'tards"

Beckerman "Why are you giving 9.5 anyway???"

Sean "Cuz I don't believe in Seattle"

Beckerman "So you triple the actual line for no odds?"

James "Bet against the fave and give 9.5. Thumbs up Sign"

Beckerman "Dan just moved slightly ahead in being the wiser Cosgrove, and that's hard to do."

Sean "James, STFU. Right, cuz the underdog never wins, how did they do last week? Just cuz James doesn't have an opinion on anything"

Beckerman "Not the point I'm making, professional odds makers came up with that number for a reason, but you're deciding to just add 12.5 points for the hell of it with no odds"

Dan "Yea the reason is to get people in on the action"

Beckerman "By adding almost 2 touchdowns???"

Sean "OK, does anyone think San Fran will win at all? I want apologies in hand written letters from all of you when this happens"

Beckerman "I'll write you a letter, but if you lose you have to shave your face clean for a month"

Sean " No"

Jeremy "Most free money ever"

Sean "I've never felt more confident going against Vegas. The fact that you are getting on me for liking SF a lot more than Seattle is hilarious, Sanchez blows dick"

Jeremy "I'm not, I'm getting on you for giving 12.5, I think SF is the 2nd best NFC team behind Seattle"

James "I'll throw this out there, Sean. ANY NFL GAME THIS YEAR I will bet you $5 as long as I get 12.5 points more than the Vegas line. And I don't care which side of the bet you take, I'll take any team in any game"

Sean "Im not looking at the spread in this game, I just think the will win by 10"

Jeremy " Good grief. Go online. Take the adjusted spread of SF -7 or something and get like +350 odds"

James "Total amateur. N00b city"

Beckerman "No spread you shave the beard if SF loses or I'll write you an essay on why you were right"

Sean " I can do that"

Jeremy "Seahawks. 12th man. Lock it up"

James "Sean what do you think about the 39 point beatdown the Hawks laid down on SF last December in Seattle???"

Sean "That's cute"

Jeremy "LOL I love having ppl like this involved in pools for money that I am in"

Well, as predicted here, the Seahawks did indeed end up beating the 49ers. Not only did they beat them, but they SMOKED them 29-3 with a very impressive defensive performance.

Sean lost his bet with Beckerman and is now forced to shave at least twice. He also gave free money away to Dan losing that bet by 35.5 points.

Anyway, enjoy. And Kudos to Sean for being a good sport about this and admitting he was wrong.

49ers @ Seahawks Preview and Bet

This Sunday the 49ers travel to Seattle to play their division rival Seahawks. This is an early-season heavyweight battle, as these are the top 2 teams in ESPN Power Ranks.

Each team is led by their young mobile QBs of the future- DangeRuss Wilson and Colin Kaepernick.

Madden 25 (cant believe this is the 25th Madden that's come out) features both these guy on their cover and in their promo commercials. Apparently during one of the filming sessions the 2 guys agreed that the loser of the game this Sunday would have to shave one of their eyebrows. Pretty sweet bet.

Here's the link to the video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npKvIE6Ys1M

What is also interesting is in my group of friends, there is another "shaving" type bet on the line for this game.

Sean (A Pinch Better) doesn't understand why people love the Seahawks and think they are good. I do'nt know if this kid has been watching football for the past year or so, in fact he is SO CONFIDENT that the Seahawks will lose at home that he bet my buddy Beckerman on the game. They made the bet without any spread. Sean wins in the 49ers win and Beck wins id the Seahawks win.

Not only did Sean bet on the 49ers (who are 3 point underdogs) wit Beck, but he also bet Dan on this same game and GAVE HIM 9.5 Points.

No, you did not read the incorrectly. Sean actually put money down on the 49ers -9.5. Insane.

Anyway here are the terms for the Beckerman-Sean straight up bet:

-If Sean wins, Beckerman has to write a 3 page essay on Why Sean was Right, How great Sean is and how much better he is than Beckerman. That essay will be posted to this blog if the 49ers pull off the upset.

-If Beckerman wins, Sean has to shave his beloved beard twice. Once on Sunday the 22nd and again on Sunday the 29th.

Alright lets get to the nuts an bolts of the game, along with my pick to win.

When Seattle has the ball

Russel Wilson and the Seahawks struggled last week against the Panthers young D. They only mustered 12 points and Marshawn Lynch was shut down. It's going to be tough to get the run game going against a monsterous SF defensive front, but it's interesting to note Lynch has gone over 100 yards the past 3 games vs the 49ers. Justin Smith was absent lat season when the teams met, so it may not be as easy for Lynch this time around. I have confidence in Pete Carroll (Yikes) to come up with a game plan to get his playmakers and space and while it may not be easy, I think Seattle can move the ball against the 49ers.

When the 49ers have the ball

Seattle did a great job of keeping Cam Newton in check last week. This week they have a similar match up with Kaepernick. Colin was held mostly in check last season when the teams met... I expect the same to happen this week. Frank Gore had very mixed results last season vs the stout Seahawks D: at home he ran buck wild for 131 yards, but in Seattle late in the season he was held to just 28 measly yards. Look for something in the middle of that this week and his fantasy owners such as myself, well we're banking on a TD big time. There's no way Anquan Boldin has as dominant of a game as he did in Week 1, the Seahawk's secondary (The Legion of Boom) is about 15x better than Green Bay's.

The last time these teams met was in Seattle last December and the Seahawks CRUSHED the 49ers 42-13. The crowd played a significant role in the game. This week they have the Sunday NIght Football game so expect the crowd to be even louder.

I love Kap. He looked like the best QB in the league last week.  I think the 49ers are nasty. But to pick against the Seahawks at home on Sunday night is asking for it. There's certain things in Sports that happen and cannot be explained... Seahawks home field advantage is one of those things. The 12th man is real.

Last year The Seahawks went undefeated at home. They beat the Cowboys, Packers, Patriots, Vikings, Jets and all 3 division rivals. Is that a good list of teams?

I was leaning towards picking the 49ers in this contest, but after thinking about it and doing more research I don't really see anyway a sane person could bet against the Seahawks. And the fact that Sean is GIVING 9.5 points to Beckerman is just crazy town.

Predicted Score:

Seahawks 27
49ers 20

Ed's plus Consensus ranks for Dirty D

I had a friend, Ed, rank our teams in the Dirty D. I asked him to rank the rosters based on the draft and to try and ignore any factors from Week 1. Here are the results:

1. A Pinch Better
2. Angry Pirates
3. Crossing Guards/ DeutscheBill
4. the rental guys
5. A1 Providers
6. Boston Patriots
7. Eat More Chicken
8. Team Ice Cream
9. Victorious Secret
10. Tahiti Loungers
11. The Godfather
12. Comeback Story

Obviously this is pretty different than the other rankings I’ve published here. We now have 4 different opinions on the table with very different results.  Here are the consensus rankings:

(My Ranks, Wilson’s, Sean’s, Ed’s)

1. A Pinch Better (7 points) (3,2,1,1)
2. The rental guys (14 points) (2,5,3,4)
3. Tahiti Loungers (16 points) (1,1,4,10)
4. Team Ice Cream (24 points) (4,4,8,8)
5. Eat More Chicken (25 points) (10,3,5,7)
6. A1 Providers (26 points) (9,10,2,5)
7. The Crossing Guards (29 points) (6,9,11,3)
8. Boston Patriots (29 points) (8,8,7,6)
9. Angry Pirates (30 points) (11,11,6,2)
10. Victorious Secret (30 points) (5,6,10,9)
11. Comeback Story (38 points) (7,7,12,12)
12. The Godfather (44 points) (12,12,9,11)

Interesting things to note:

-I obviously thought A Pinch Better had a nice draft, and apparently I am the lowest on his roster by ranking him 3. What’s funny about this is during the draft and after the draft Sean kept saying how much he hates his team and hates his draft. Again I have to say I love that he started Foster-Rodgers-Roddy (3 guys I won with last year.)

-I’m not sure what kind of hard drugs Ed was on when he ranked my team 10th, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But seriously, 1-1-4 and then 10? C’mon bro. Why do you hate Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham?  Haters fuel me.

-The Godfather was easily the lowest ranking team. 3 out of the 4 rankers put him in the bottom 2. Gonna be tough for Abe to avoid the SOPHOMORE SLUMP

-More on Ed and the hard drugs he must have been on when ranking the teams: He picked Campbell as the #2 team.  Obviously we have very different opinions here cuz I ranked C-Bell 2nd to last.

-The top 4 teams are 4 of the top 5 most successful teams in the history of our league.

Team Ice Cream RBs vs Comeback Story RBs

I wanted to write a quick blog comparing 2 running back crews for teams in our league.

Team Ice Cream (Adam) RB’s:

Jamaal Charles
Reggie Bush
Darren Sproles
L’eveon Bell
Bernard Pierce

Comeback Story’s (Donny) RBs:

Steven Jackson
Alfred Morris
Daryl Richardson
Chris Ivory
Ronnie Hillman
Daniel Thomas
Jacquizz Rodgers

First, the reason why I’m even looking at this is because Donny thinks he has the best RB depth in the league and I replied “Adam’s RB’s shit all over yours”  Not the greatest language but then again I was shocked anyone could think they had betters RBs than Adam, who spent his first 3 picks in the draft on the position.

Lets Rank all 12 RBs on these 2 teams. Ill rank them in my personal order of preference, and in parenthesis I will list their Expert Consensus RB Rank from Fantasy Pros.com (Fantasy Pros.com compiles average rankings from about 100 different sources…. Aka a great way to average out all the experts opinions)

Keep in mind this is PPR, particularly important when ranking a bunch of these guys.

1. Jamaal Charles (3rd overall)
2. Reggie Bush (13th overall)
3. Darren Sproles (12th overall)
4. Steven Jackson (11th overall)
5. Alfred Morris (15th overall)
6. Daryl Richardson (25th overall)
7. Leveon Bell (40th overall)
8. Chris Ivory (29th overall)
9. Bernard Pierce (41st overall)
10. Ronnie Hillman (43rd overall)
11. Jazquizz Rodgers (39th overall)
12. Daniel Thomas (62nd overall)

Big Boys vs Big Boys:

Charles/Bush/Sproles vs Jackson/Morris/Richardson

No one- literally no one- should rather have the trio on the right. Especially in PPR where Sproles and Bush get a big bump and Morris gets a big bump down. Even if you prefer Jackson/Morris over Charles/Bush (highly unlikely,) Sproles over Richardson is an obvious MONSTER advantage. The two cannot be compared. Whats especially telling about all this is the 3 guys we listed should be the weekly play for both these teams. Adam will be able to play all 3 studs and Donny can play S Jax & Morris and Richardson in the flex if he chooses.

Depth guys vs Depth guys

Bell/Pierce vs Ivory/Hillman/Rodgers/Thomas

Ivory and Bell are going to have similar seasons. I know Bell is hurt right now, but when he returns in a couple weeks he is going to be the unchallenged starter for a team that loves to run the ball. Ivory, on the other hand, is a guy I’ve liked in the past on the Saints. He actually has pretty good talent. The problem with him is twofold- 1. The presence of Bilall Powell. You may scoff at this, but Powell will take away carries and TDs, and is in fact currently listed as the Jets starter. 2- It’s the Jets. They are going to be so bad all year that nearly everyone in their offense is fantasy irrelevant. Defenses will key on the run game and force the Jets to try and beat them through the air, which wont happen. The Jets will be down on the scoreboard and forced to abandon the run game. I don’t see Ivory scoring well many weeks and I for one would feel very uncomfortable starting him in my lineup. He’s a bye week filler IMO.

Bernard Pierce is the 2nd best “handcuff” in the league, second only to Ben Tate. Pierce was a rookie last season backing up Ray Rice, but in the last 10 games they played (with Rice healthy), Pierce received 8 carries a game and ended up with  108 carries for 532 yards. That’s a robust 4.9 yards per carry clip, putting Pierce among tops in the league last year. Should Ray Rice go down, Pierce is looking like a weekly low end RB1. Even if Rice stays healthy, Pierce should be an OK bye week fill in.

Hillman is in a 3 RB rotation  in Denver. He cant hold onto the ball, doesn't excel in pass blocking, and isn't a special player. Out of all 3 RBs, hes my least favorite on the Broncos. I would NEVER feel comfortable starting this guy in my lineup unless at least 1 if not both of the other DEN RBs go down. Hillman's value is probably at it's peak right now, because as the season progresses Montee Ball will likely take over.

Jaquizz Rodgers is a nice handcuff for Donny… but this guy has been around and we know what he is. Nothing special and borderline droppable. If S Jax goes down, Rodgers would obviously be alright, but still no more than a weak flex play in my opinion. I’ve followed Rodgers since his Oregon St days, have have believed in him in the past but I wont be fooled again.

I'm convinced Daniel Thomas is nothing more than a handcuff to Miller, despite the mind games Coach Philban has been playing all Fall.  At the very best he will split time with Lamar Miller, but same as Hillman, Thomas' value is RIGHT NOW. Once Miller gets rolling, Thomas' play time will decrease.

So basically what I'm saying is that Hillman and Thomas may look like OK depth guys right now, but as the season progresses both will lose value and will likely be dropped. Since Donny doesn't need either of these guys for the first few weeks (with 4 better options), they practically bring no value to the table when talking about RB depth. Is it better to have these guys as super safety options than not? Sure. Does it matter too much? No.

So after looking into this situation with more detail, I would still choose Adams group of running backs over Donnys 100 out of 100 times in our league format.

The difference in skill at the top of each crew favors Adam SO HEAVILY, that the extra 2 back up rbs on Donnys bench hardly matter.

If ANYONE thinks I'm wrong here and you like Donny's RB squad better, please feel free to e-mail me and let me know why. I'd love to see an opposing view based on facts and evidence.

Matt Wilson rates the 2013 Dirty D Draft

I'm sure you all remember Matt Wilson, a (relatively) frequent contributor to this blog. Well, for the second year in a row Wilson took the time to analyze our draft and offer his insight.

Click here to read Wilson's take on last year's draft

______________________________________________________________________________

So it’s time to review the XFL draft again. Even amateur hour deserves some coverage. This year I got a copy of the drafts results and asked for anything I should be aware of. Props to Bill for going hard. I’ll do a quick write up on each team, post my top 5 best picks, top 5 worst picks, and a Top 3 for the season.

Let me first start off by saying that all of these rosters look kind of loaded after doing multiple 14 team leagues. Yet there were still teams that found a way to leave themselves with no depth. Pretty crazy.

Angry Pirates – When you get Adrian Peterson, you’re off to a good start. I like how this team’s starting lineup filled out in general, but there are some flaws. In spite of his awesome name, I’m an anti-Russell Wilson guy. No running back depth, a gamble at tight end that may or may not even be their top option (I don’t love Gresham, but he’s still there), and a QB in a run first offense with tough divisional defenses. No thanks.

Rental guys – No capital letters, no problem. Another team that I generally like, but there are mistakes. You banking on those James Jones touchdowns? I’m not. It would not surprise me if Jones ends up being their 4th option behind Nelson, Cobb, and Finley. Odds are he is better than Finley, but still wouldn’t surprise me. 4th option, 5th round. Yikes. I go Colston or Nelson before Jones without a thought, then I seriously debate many other options. With all that said, Shorts could be a steal and the receiving core is solid. I am not on the Jordan Cameron bandwagon, though. Vereen gives RB depth; I do like this team, but I’m just not sure they’re a contender.

A Pinch Better – I like this team a lot. I love the value on Darren McFadden. Yes he’s a gamble, but he’s also the 3rd RB here. There are not a lot of teams with a RB3 capable of RB1 value. White and Colston are reliable, Foster and Rodgers are studs. I have a love/hate relationship with Jermichael Finley. All signs seem to point to good things this year. When I doubt him, I remember that ridiculous game he had against Arizona in the postseason. Dude can be a beast when he wants to be. Like the upside on the bench. Biggest flaw is the Defense…don’t love Baltimore…against Denver Week 1. This team is nice.

Godfather – Godfather of what? I can’t take this team name seriously when I see things like Phil Dawson in Round 11. You’re going to cut this guy, man. Why bother? Also hate the reach on the Bears defense. You can’t count on turnovers; they’re all luck. What you’re left with is a team in a division with Aaron Rodgers, Adrian Peterson, and Calvin Johnson. Reach city. At least this team didn’t reach on its running backs…oh, wait. Lacy over MJD? C’mon man. As a Packers fan, I feel I am the most qualified person to tell you that you were elected as mayor of reach city. Could it pay off? Sure. But give me the guy who was a top 3 pick two years ago in MJD instead. Receivers are studs, but weak depth.

Boston Patriots – I’m a believer in Chip Kelly, so I’m a believer in the McCoy pick. James asked me to talk him into McCoy at 8 and I think I talked myself into him being a top 5 option. I like some of the backs he passed on, but don’t hate the pick at all. I actually really like this entire starting lineup – and all of the receivers. What I dislike is the depth. Mendenhall is at least a start, but PT Cruiser? Just don’t see upside here. Trade one of the WRs for a RB and we’re in business.

Team Ice Cream – Two years in a row I like the draft plan. Wait on QB is a solid play. I’m pretty sure I originated dominating PPR leagues with RBs that catch passes. Yeah, originated. Fuck the experts – I started that trend. ESPN doesn’t even do PPR as default yet; get on board. I am all aboard the Reggie Bush train this year. I just have a hunch that this is the year people go “oh yeah, dude was a beast at USC”. Love the running back depth. He has that on lockdown. Adam will have made a trade involving a back within two weeks – lock it up. Receivers are okay – I like Garcon, don’t love him. Give me Wayne, Bowe, or Colston before I go Garcon. Also like Antonio Brown over Desean Jackson, though as I said before, I believe in Chip Kelly so he could be a stud. Clearly Adam was sitting on Luck or Vick but shit happens. Running back headed to Eat More Chicken for a QB package?

A1 Providers – Let’s start with the positive. I like the receivers on this team. A lot. I think Brian Hartline is a steal and that’s the #5 option. If you know me, you know I love Brandon Marshall so that’s also a great foundation. The issues here are at other positions. Running back depth is a huge problem. Perhaps Frank Gore was the pick and the Tahiti Loungers sniped him, but I’m probably wrong. Ryan is good, don’t get me wrong, but the difference of Ryan to Romo, who would have been available a round later is far less than the upside of adding Giovani Bernard. I’d much rather the trio of Bernard, Romo, and Vereen than Ryan, Bradshaw, and Steve Smith (given the WR draft acquired later) here. That would have been possible based on where people were drafted. Finally, I felt Owen Daniels was a huge reach in the 7th rd ahead of a number of TE options. Then, if that wasn’t bad enough, the mistake is made worse with two more tight ends on the bench. Turn Owen Daniels into Mark Ingram and I feel a lot better here.

Tahiti Loungers – I know James was worried about what to do with the 8th pick, so naturally the Las Vegas Outlaws and Birmingham Thunderbolts let him get one of his targeted guys. After that, he grabs Jimmy Graham and Drew Brees for the Saints connection. Monsters. While I did not originate this idea like I did winning with PPR backs, I was a definite advocate for being the one who took Jimmy Graham and adding Brees is gravy. Think about when you look at who you are playing – aren’t you pissed every time you see you’re the one playing against Brees or Graham? The running back depth is still solid too, with Gore, Ball, and Vick Ballard (Ahmad Bradshaw is a clown). So receivers must suck? Nope, still grabs Jordy Nelson. I am taking credit for this pick as days before the draft, I bet James that Jordy would outperform Randall Cobb this year. Just like I gave him mental permission to take Brandon Marshall last year, I convinced him to take Nelson.(EDITOR'S NOTE: This is ridiculous. I've been a Jordy fan for a long time. Traded for him last year in this league.) Stud. It’s upside city with the other WRs. I like Austin and Thompkins, though I’m not crazy about Floyd or Jeffery. In a 12 team XFL league though, he’ll find replacements.

Crossing Guards – Decent team, especially considering it was auto-drafted. The running backs aren’t terrible with Lynch, Ingram, and Powell. He needs another, but making a trade seems to come easy in this league. I won’t beat up the Matt Bryant pick since it was uncontrollable. In the end, auto draft definitely did better than some people who were there. Amateur hour.

Comeback Story – I like this team. Having no defense is a hole, but picking up the Indy defense for Week 1 (The RAIDERS!) would fix that. Brady is a stud, paired up with Amendola. Great combination…if Amendola is healthy. I am all aboard TY Hilton, Emmanuel Sanders, and Andre Roberts are quality upside guys though. Since I own Alfred Morris in another league, I have sold myself on him. I definitely don’t take him before Forte or Richardson, but it is what it is. I do like Steven Jackson in Rd 2. He’s the definition of an unsexy pick, but the dude is a workhorse. Obviously he is older now, but just take a look at his stats from 2006. If Atlanta is going to include him in the passing game, and he can catch, he can be a  star. Top 5 overall RB upside. Richardson, Ivory, and Hillman give us five starters – yes, some of them suck – but it beats most options on other teams. Tony Gonzalez was a reach…especially ahead of Gronkowski and Witten, but the team still fills out fairly well behind that.

Eat More Chicken – This is a good team. Everyone hates the Cowboys, everyone hates Tony Romo, but the guys just produce for fantasy. In a separate league, there was a team I played against last year that had Romo, Dez, Miles Austin, AND Jason Witten and they won the league. The guys can produce, there are no two ways about it. Dez Bryant and Andre Johnson at WR are obviously solid. Forte (plus his handcuff Michael Bush) should be a strong option. While I am a believer in Lamar Miller, he is still risky, and there’s not a lot of depth at RB here. Even the biggest Romo supporters are smart to grab someone like Andrew Luck. If a WR is dealt for a RB, this team will be tough to beat.

Victorious Secret – Running backs? Check. Quarterback? Check.  Tight end? Check. Wide receivers? Risk mania. Welker has upside, but until I know how Manning is going to divvy up those targets, I can’t support him too much…especially with some of the options available there. After owning Hakeem Nicks last year, I can say the guy is a dick. Get on the field! He is a beast when he plays, but I have so much faith in him that I own Rueben Randle in multiple leagues this year. I hate Notre Dame, I hate Russell Wilson, I hate replacement refs that make bad calls that screw the Packers, so I hate Golden Tate. Then there’s the San Diego situation with Brown/Floyd. I would have rather seen her go all in on one of them and then grab another backup running back, but oh well. Gronk was a huge steal; were you guys all too drunk at the Deutschebank to realize he will probably be back in Week 3? Another solid effort by Kait.

Steals of the draft

5. MJD 23rd overall – Top Five RB upside paired with Doug Martin. Tough for all these teams that I criticized their running back depth

4. Knowshon Moreno Rd 13 – Again, RB depth is a huge problem this year. He is the only RB that Peyton Manning trusts right now and he was kind of decent playing the Joseph Addai role to Manning last year down the stretch. Love the upside here.

3. Brian Hartline Rd 12 – Yeah, I’m all in on Hartline. He was a 1000 yard receiver last year with no other weapons for Tannehill. Wallace is the deep threat, but Hartline will be the target monster.

2. Darren Sproles Rd 3 – Go ahead, let Adam dominate the running backs. See how you like it when he’s raping you on trades.

1. Darren McFadden Rd 5 – As I said before, the guy is frustrating as hell. However, there aren’t a lot of guys with first round upside hanging around in the 5th round. Go big or go home.

Honorable mention – Rob Gronkowski Rd 6 – He missed 5 games last year and still had 800 yards and 11 TDs. If he misses the first 2, he will be healthy for 14. Just saying.

Reach of the draft

5. Tony Gonzalez Rd 5 – It’s not the player, it’s the players he was taken before. Witten and Gronk? Come on now.

4. Chicago defense Rd 9 – They aren’t good enough that I would think about not cutting them, so why waste the early pick? Have fun against their schedule.

3. Eddie Lacy – 22nd Overall – Nobody wants him to be a beast more than me, but there were so many safer options. Yikes.

2. Owen Daniels 7th rd – Mindblowing. Ahead of Olsen, Finley, Gates, Cameron, Myers, etc. Kyle Rudolph went six rounds later. I just don’t get this one. Injury risk in a run first offense – no thanks.

1. Phil Dawson – not in the last (two) rounds – Amateur. Hour.

Honorable mention – Jonathan Dwyer Rd 11 – Dude’s not on a team, bro. Only reason this isn’t a Top 5 reach is I’m assuming you just missed that news because you were too hammered or something. But it did happen Saturday – rough pick.

So now your Top 3…

As I said before, all these amateur teams look good compared to the 14 team league roster’s I’ve become accustomed to these days (to clarify, 14 teams versus 12 teams is not what makes this the minor leagues).

3. Eat More Chicken – This is all about my confidence in Lamar Miller. I feel good enough Lamar Miller (think Doug Martin last year) to put this team in the Top 3). Nobody goes undefeated and the starters match up with anyone.

2. A Pinch Better – As I said above, there are not a lot of holes here. Arian Foster worries me a little, but he is backed up by Tate. If Finley finally lives up to the hype, they could be #1.

1. Tahiti Loungers – The upside for the receivers could pay off and bump the team up, but it could also all fall apart there. Love the Saints combo though; that’s trouble. I didn’t want to rate James #1, but you left me no choice. (Editors Note: Haters Fuel Me)

Honorable mention: Team Ice Cream…if the QB play worked out a little better, I’d feel better. There’s still a ton of potential here. Trade it up.

Less honorable mention: Dan has a similar draft to last year. Generally good, but James Jones and Jordan Cameron in particular drop him out of the contenders for me.

So keep in mind this is all in fun. I know many of the owners in this league; if you’re one of the few I don’t know, don’t take it personally. I’m sure you’re good at other things; your draft just sucked.

2013 Dirty D Draft Recap

Last Night was the 2013 version of our Fantasy Football Draft. Everyone was in attendance EXCEPT ZomBill who YOLOd so hard at the DeutscheBank that he couldn't make the draft. Anyway, without further adieu, here is the draft board and my breakdown:

(If it is too small to see, click the picture to zoom in)

WARNING WARNING WARNING

Everything you read below is just my unprofessional opinion and you may or may not agree with my assessment of the draft or each team. I always welcome differing opinions so if anyone wants to rank these drafts I will post it here on my blog.

Steal of the Draft #3- Frank Gore, 41st overall to Tahiti Loungers

Steal of the Draft #4- Jason Witten, 59th overall to Eat More Chicken

Steal of the Draft #5- Rob Gronkowski, 61st overall to Victorious Secret

Steal of the Draft #6- Antonio Brown, 68th overall to the Boston Patriots

Steal of the Draft #7- TY Hilton, 87th overall to comeback story

Steal of the Draft #8- Cecil Shorts, 95th overall the rental guys

Steal of the Draft #9- Zach Sudfeld, 151st overall to A1 Providers

Reach of the Draft #1- Eddie Lacy, 22nd overall to The Godfather

Reach of the Draft #2- Matt Ryan- 42nd overall to Boston Patriots

Reach of the Draft #3- Russell Wilson, 49th overall to Angry Pirates

Reach of the Draft #4- James Jones, 50th overall to the rental guys

Reach of the Draft #5- DeAngelo Williams- 72nd overall to Angry Pirates

Reach of the Draft #6- Andre Brown, 123rd overall to A Pinch Better

Tahiti Loungers

QB1- Drew Brees

RB1- CJ Spiller
RB2- Frank Gore
RB3- Montee Ball
RB4- Bryce Brown
RB5- Kendall Hunter
RB6- Vick Ballard

WR1- Jordy Nelson
WR2- Miles Austin
WR3- Kembrell Thompkins
WR4- Michael Floyd
WR5- Alshon Jeffery

TE1- Jimmy Graham

Defense- Tampa Bay
Kicker- Robbie Gould

The draft started with a nice surprise for me... I did NOT expect CJ Spiller to fall to me at #8 overall. I am thrilled to have him on my team. I then went against the grain and selected the Saints TE and QB combo with my next 2 picks. I couldn't pass up Graham and the MONSTER weekly advantage he brings to the table, and instead of waiting on QB like I do every year, I decided to take the stud and my #1 QB on the board, Drew Brees. These 3 guys could all very easily finish #1 in scoring at their positions.

Of course, when you select TE AND QB early, you need to expect to have to scramble to fill out the WR and RB positions. I got lucky that Frank Gore fell to me in the 4th... Gore is an interesting player to me because I used to love him, then hated him, and now I like him again. Here's why:

-Miraculously, Gore hasn't missed a game in 2 years. He's a workout machine who's determined to stay healthy
-SF has the best run-blocking Offensive Line in the NFL
-Gore quietly finished last year as the #10 RB in our league last year

All signs point to Gore having yet another 1200 yard 8 TD season which is excellent production from an RB2 drafted in the 4th round. (If Gore DOES end up going down, I was able to secure his handcuff- Kendall Hunter- late in the draft)

Once the 5th round came and I had no WRs yet I started getting slightly nervous. WR is deep this year and I like a lot of guys I knew I could get late, but I was THRILLED to land Jordy Nelson in the 5th round. To me, he is a borderline WR1 and probably fell so far from his pre-season injury which he is fully recovered from.

Again in the 6th I was happy to get Montee Ball.. it may take a couple weeks for Ball to get rolling (ha) but I expect him to be a weekly top-20 option soon. He is going to score a ton of TDs and is he learns how to pass block- watch out.

My draft was rounded out with a bunch of players I love to break out. Kembrell Thompkins is locked in as Brady's "x" receiver, the same position Brandon Lloyd played last season. Lloyd never stood out or did anything exciting and was still able to put up 74 catches for 911 yards and 4 TDs. He finished as the 22nd best WR in our league last year so no one should be surprised when/if Thompkins finishes in the top 25 WR this season.

Michael Floyd and Alshon Jeffery are both sophomore WRs who are in great situations and could easily hold WR2 value. Floyd lines up opposite Fitzgerald in Bruce Arian's offense and Jeffery lines up across from B Marsh in Trestman's high octane passing attack.

Byrce Brown could end up producing as a flex player even is Shady Mccoy stays healthy. The Eagles are going to run run run and as long as Brown stops fumbling the ball, he will be good. Plus if McCoy (concussion history) goes down, B Brown will be high end flex/rb2 weekly play.

QB Grade:A+

Adam is going to have a lot of trading chips this year. The only team to start the draft rb-rb-rb, adam's clear strength is at running back. There are a few teams in the league who will most definitely need some help and Adam has the resources to deal. Charles-Reggie-Sproles is just about the best 3 RB start you can have. Sproles especially is a great pick as he is low risk and a known commodity. All 3 of these guys have a good chance of finishing 2013 in the top 12.

The WR corps for Team Ice Cream is also solid. I like Garcon this year- he was a beast when healthy in 2012- so if he can play a full schedule he should be a borderline wr1/2.

Decker will be fine in Denver, Welkers presence definitely hurts a bit but Decker is still a huge target that Peyton will go to in the red zone. I liked where Adam grabbed Decker.

The Black Unicorn should have a nice season on the bears, we know he isnt anything TOO special but is a middle of the road TE.

The QB situation is where Adams team is weak. As the only "smart" person who decided to wait on QB, adam was able to load up his team on RB/WR but really made a mistake in rounds 7-8-9 when he choose to keep waiting instead of grabbing Andrew Luck. Those 3 picks- Leveon bell, Bernard Pirece, and Stevie Johnson- are all unnecessary on this team. Jenna, for the 2nd year in a row, grabbed her 2nd QB before Adam had the chance. Also, DeutscheBill got autodrafted Mike Vick a mere 3 picks before Adam was looking to choose him. He ends up with Eli Manning and Andy Dalton. That combo should be OK, but Adams looking at a big disadvantage at the highest scoring position in fantasy football.

Trent Richardson is a favorite player of mine and would have been my selection at #8 overall had Spiller not fallen to me. I love Richardson this year and so I love this pick. I also thought the Steven Ridley pick was solid- it may have been slightly early but when you are picking on the ends you gotta go for the guys you want. Ridley was the #14 RB in our league last year, and he's a TD machine for a high octane offense =  Low risk.

At the next turn, Kait was fortunate enough to land a nice little QB-WR combo of Peyton manning and Wes Welker. Welker as we know is a ppr machine, and even if he has a "down" year in Denver, he is still worthy of this selection. Another low risk pick for Kait

The 5/6 turn was a very nice one for Kait. In what may the steal of the draft, Gronk was selected with the last pick in the 5th round. Everyone here knows the guy is a difference maker and a force... if he plays any more than 10 games this year, this pick is going to look real nice.

The one area Kait could improve is her RB depth. Woodhead is an uninspiring rb3, but with T Rich's shaky injury past Kait may need to lean on Woodhead too much. She is most definitely going to need to hit the wire or make a in-season trade to address her murky rb situation.

For the 2nd year in a row Campbell lands AP, who he selected with the 1st overall pick. At the next turn, I LOVE the duo of David Wilson and Demaryius Thomas. Great picks. Wilson is going to explode. Campbells team was looking sexy at this point.  In round 4 Campbell took Dwayne Bowe- pretty solid pick, especially as a 2nd WR. I have some minor doubts about Alex Smith being able to get him the ball, but still a solid wr2. The next pick was where the draft got ugly.

Cbell took Russel Wilson. I'm sure going into the draft the idea was to grab best avail QB at the 4/5 turn, however, it didn't work out here. With Stafford, RG3, Romo and Luck on the board, I would have forgone the QB pick and taken another positional player. Russell Wilson is the consensus #12 QB and may have arguably been avail for Campbell with his next picks. Instead Campbell locked Wilson up, and then proceeded to pick DeAngelo Williams and Mike Wallace, two guys I am down on this year.

I did like the Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon picks, but again, I really didn't like how the middle of the draft went for Campbell. We'll see how it plays out.

Jenna's team is about as balanced as they come. I loved the Lamar Miller pick (I had him on my radar) and the Forte-Dez start couldn't have been much better. I also really like the WR depth here- Andre Johnson is underrated as it is, plus Boldin/Moore/Hopkins provides a nice bench. The running back depth is what scares me here... just like with Kait. Forte and Miller will provide a dynamic 1-2 punch for a while but its only a matter of time before Jenna is in the market for a rb. I DO like Michael Bush, and it's important Jenna grabbed him as a handcuff, but the rb situation is going to be a headache all season here. It is worth mentioning Jason Witten was a nice steal at the end of the 4th round, even though with Gronk on the board it takes a little shine off the selection.

Just like last year, Jenna grabbed a 2nd QB before every team had their first. Last year I thought it was an awful move but this year I thought it was great. Andrew Luck fell to far and now Jenna has a nice trade chip she can use to try and get an RB. If there are any 2 teams that should be talking, its Jenna and Adam.

I think Sean made a smart play by grabbing Foster at #3 overall, even with his pre-season question marks. I can very easily see Foster dominating the league once again, even if his touches are reduced. Just like me last year, Sean locked up the HOU RB by taking Ben Tate in 7th round. Yes it was a little early for tate but an absolute must for Sean at that point in the draft. At this point, since he has both guys, Sean is probably rooting for an injury to one of them so the other gets 25+ touches a game.

Sean also grabbed the injury riddled combo of DMC and Murray as his 2nd and 3rd RBs. Normally I would hate these picks but Sean took them both past their ADP so its hard to be critical.  I especially like the Murray pick because I kind of think he's just had some bad luck thus far in his career. When he's healthy and playing, he truck sticks people.

The WR corps here is top heavy. I obviously LOVE Roddy White (over/under on him being on my team is 3.5 weeks) and Colston is an ideal #2 WR. I'm not a fan of Jennings or Edelman, but again the top 2 guys more than make up for the lack of depth. Roddy has never missed a game in his career so Sean did a good job locking that up.

I also thought FInley was good value for Sean. The Rodgers-Finley connection has failed miserably in the past but who knows, it could click this year.

Abe started his team with the guy I would have chosen- Megatron. Then, without a question the largest reach of the draft, Abe took Eddie Lacy in the second round, at #22 overall. There were at least 3-4 RBs I liked better, and countless number of other options outside of the RB position. In fact the more I write about it the more I hate this pick of Lacy. If he breaks out and beasts, Ill eat my words, but for now Im standing behind my thought on this being a huge reach. Even if Abe wanted Lacy badly, he would have easily been able to grab him in round 3 instead of round 2.

Abe took another rookie rb as his second rb, Gio Bernard. I like Bernard a lot, but its risky to lean on him as your 2nd RB. Mathews is also a nice candidate to be a RB2 but overall this RB crew leaves a lot to be desired.

The WR crew, however, is sick. Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitz is an amazing 1-2 combo. Points for days. Randle is a nice sleeper pick, and DHB is starting for the Colts so he is playable. Kenny Stills is raw and in a good situation, but nothing more than a lotto ticket at this point.

RG3 is most likely not going to be able to repeat his 2012 fantasy performance, but nonetheless he should be really good. Abe probably could have waited another round for QB, but if he wanted RG3 that's where he needed to take him.

For the 2nd straight year I really like Dan's draft. Doug Martin is a stud, and MJD falling to the end of the 2nd round is going to be a nice value pick IMO. The Jones combo at WR is real nice.. but I do have 1 problem.

Dan selected Julio Jones with his teammate Roddy White on the board. He also selected James Jones over Jordy Nelson. I would have gone the opposite way on both of these picks- especially the Packers WRs- but to each his own.

Overall the WR here are very strong. Cecil Shorts was a top 25 WR in our league with awful, awful QB play. Tavon Austin is an absolute animal and as the season progresses he should get stronger.

Kaepernick was a solid pick for Dan... he's another one of the guys Ive liked since his college days and I think he's the real deal. The RB depth is really the only question here... but with 2 studs plus a nice breakout candidate in Vereen, Dan should be OK.

Bill unfortunately missed the draft and got auto'd. TO be honest, the team is pretty solid minus the RB depth. The WRs are really nice, and the QB/TE are great. Another year, another draft I'm not a huge fan of for Donny. First, selecting Alfred Morris at 10th overall in a PPR league is too early. There's a good chance he would have lasted to the 2nd round anyway. Morris caught 7 passes last year... an obvious reason to knock him down in ppr leagues. The 2nd round pick of Steven Jackson was solid, another pick Im not in love with but that just my personal preference. S Jax could easily pound in 12 TDS and make this selection look nice, although it is kind of weird to own the TE and RB for the same team. (Took Gonzo in the 5th.) I guess since it's the Falcons Donny may be alright as they are a high octane offense.

The WR spot is a clear disadvantage for Donny- just like me he grabbed both QB and TE early. Tom Brady is Tom Brady and will be fine, and while Amendola stays healthy Donny has a lethal connection. If Amendola stays healthy all year, Donny will be sitting pretty, that's obviously a tough bet though. The rest of the WR all kind of suck... Hilton has nice upside but is only the 3rd WR on a balanced attack team. The pick I really liked from Donny was Daryl Richardson in the 6th round... I believe he could end up as an RB2 so to me that was one of Don's best picks.

Paul has a good team. That's for sure.  Ray Rice at #& in a ppr league- cant go wrong there. In the 2nd Paul locked up Brandon Marshall who will be a beast per usual. After that Paul went with Cruz who of course is a threat.

I actually didn't like the Matt Ryan pick, however. At that point Paul could have easily waited on QB and grabbed a 3rd WR for his flex or another RB. I think we basically saw the best Matt Ryan could have done last year... I would be shocked if he bested his 2012 numbers and in fact I expect a slight regression.

Bradshaw is a nice rb2, but the clear weakness here is RB depth. You cant have just 3 RBs on your team with Shonn Greene as the 3rd guy and Bradshaw, whos had a million foot problems, as your 2nd. Just cant happen. If Paul had grabbed RBs instead  Owen Daniels, the Houston Defense and Mike Williams I would have maybe given Paul the best draft grade, but that cannot happen when you only have 2 real RBs on your team.

The Sudfeld pick late was by far my favorite of Pauls.... Great pick.

The first major surprise in the draft came at #5 overall with the selection on LeSean McCoy. Mr. B is banking on the Chip Kelly offense working and McCoy thriving in the run-heavy attack. It makes a lot of sense... my personal preference would have been to go elsewhere at RB but the case for McCoy at #5 can easily be made.

I also wasnt a huge fan of the Chris Johnson pick in the 2nd round. There were a handful of backs I would have preferred at that point... but to each his own. CJ?K could easily finish in the top 10 this year.

I thought drafting Stafford where he got him was also kind of a reach. With Luck, Romo, and Stafford on the board and just 2 other teams picking before his next pick, I guess Mr. B didnt want to wait so he took the Goergia alum. It's not that I dont think Stafford will bounce back- I do- but I dont know HOW much better he will be than Luck or Romo.

I do love the WR Mr B snagged. Cobb is my boy, and between Wayne, Brown and Givens Mr B should easily be able to fill his WR2 and flex spots.
